Fly Fishing Classes

Beginning Fly Fishing     $25

Learn the basic knowledge you need to go fly fishing! Instruction includes: casting, knots, equipment, and entomology.

On the Water Basics*    $125

Get hands on fly fishing instruction and experience on the water at Roaring Springs Trout Camp. Learn casting, reading the water, fly selection, presentation, line management.  Four hours on the water at a private stocked fishery.

Intermediate Moving Water*     $200

Drift the McKenzie River for a day and take your fishing to the next level with on the water instruction for moving water. Learn where the fish are, what fish eat, fly presentation, line management, dead-drifting flies, wade fishing and fishing from a drift boat

*Previous fly fishing experience necessary or take “Intro to Fly Fishing” or ‘Fly Casting Basics” as preparation. Gear rental available for $35.


The “How To” Series    $15

Discover some specialized techniques to enhance your fly fishing experience, or just come to learn and have fun! No previous experience necessary.

Rod Building

Rod Building Workshop    $175

Build your own rod! Class includes 4, 5 or 6 weight TFO Professional Series blank and components. Instruction during class, then use of equipment at shop to complete project. (Upgradable blanks and components also available at additional cost.)

Casting Classes

Beginning Fly Casting     $ 25

Learn the basics of fly casting a single hand rod: how a fly rod works, the basic casting stroke, the roll cast, and the pick-up and lay down cast. 

Two Handed Spey Casting     $25

Learn the basics of fly casting a two hand rod: how a fly rod works, the basic casting stroke, key spey casts (Circle C, Snake, Single, and Double Spey.)

Casting Doctor     $15

Have a problem with your casting skills? Sign-up for a one-on-one 30 minute coaching session. 

Private Casting Lesson     $50

Schedule a private 90 minute coaching session to take your skills to the next level. You cast will be video taped for your own viewing and diagnosis with the instructor.

 

FLY TYING CLASSES

Beginning Fly Tying     $75

Discover what fly tying is all about! Learn the basic techniques and tools to get started in fly tying. No previous experience necessary. All equipment provided. Two-class session.

Intermediate Fly Tying Series*     $25

A series of one-night sessions focusing on types and classes of flies. These are intermediate level fly tying techniques.
